The psy-changelings' lives are at stake when a new darkness threatens to overpower and eliminate them. In a destabilized world with countless lives at stake, two people defined by their aloneness must stand together to stave off ultimate destruction--
Canto and Payal are great. I really loved what this book did for bringing them together, and for furthering the intrigue surrounding the destruction of the PsyNet. But I, personally, want to go back to Black Sea. The saving grace for me was that Canto is so close to the bears, so we still got quite a bit of Changeling interaction in this book. All of that makes it seem like Payal and Canto weren't enough on their own, they definitely were. I love that Payal was written as neurodivergent. And the story of them bonding as children, and then finding one another again as adults was very compelling.
