The Holiday Switch

Genre: YA Holiday Romance

Lila Santos is ready for her last winter break of high school. The snow in her small town of Holly, New York, is plentiful, the mood is as cozy as a fuzzy Christmas sweater, and she's earning extra cash working at the local inn—AKA the setting of the greatest film of all time, Holiday by the Lake—while moonlighting as an anonymous book blogger.

But her perfect holiday plans crash to a halt when her boss's frustratingly cute nephew, Teddy Rivera, becomes her coworker.  Lila is type A; Teddy is type “Anything but Lila’s Way,” and the two of them can’t stop butting heads over tangled icicle lights and messy gift shop merch. But when they accidentally switch phones one afternoon, they realize they've both been hiding things from each other. Will their secrets—and an unexpected snowstorm—bring these rivals together?

What a dream high school job? Lila works at the Bookworm Inn Gift Shop. Her mom's best friend owns the inn, so is her boss. She lives and works in a town called Holly, and this town LIVES for Christmas. All of their shops are Christmas themed. The inn that Lila works in lives for Christmas. All because of this book and movie that were set in Holly at the Bookworm Inn.

Lila also runs an anonymous book blog, and these book reviews were so well done! Makes me feel nervous to review this book because it won't be anywhere near as good as any of the reviews included IN the book. Here we are though... Tinsels and Tropes is a goal for a book blog. So thanks for that, Tif Marcelo.

Lila is getting ready for college next year, and she's hoping for some extra hours during the holiday season. However, her boss's nephew is coming to town and is going to be taking those "extra" hours. Lila is going to be training him, though. Even though every time they're on the same shift it's clear to her that he wants to be somewhere else, doing anything else. On one of these shifts, Teddy takes Lila's phone when he leaves work. Her passcode is hilariously easy to hack, and Teddy sees her calendar and her secret anonymous holiday book blog.

While Teddy has her phone, Lila's friends convince her to "Find my Phone" and they track him down to a new rock climbing gym in town. Teddy has a secret of his own, and it's that he's in town doing the one thing his family want him not to do, compete in a rock climbing competition at the end of the holiday season. So now they know each other's secrets, and agree to keep their secrets to avoid mutually assured destruction. And then all of a sudden Teddy becomes this very adorable guy who keeps treating her to these adorable dates.

It was cute. A holiday book about a holiday book? Count me in every time. If that's what you're looking for, this is it!
