Or Victor. Vitya, Vitushka....many iterations of a name for this beautiful, beautiful character. I have been looking forward to Grim's happy ending since meeting him in Leviathan's Song, but now that I have it I'm almost sad that it's over. Almost. Because he got such a wonderful happy ending.
Victor is a reaper. He collects the souls of the dead and escorts them to their afterlife. He has some really poignant things to say about life and death. Do watch your content/trigger warnings on this one. It does deal with death. But very respectfully. That's maybe the best word to describe Victor. Respectful. How does he make being respectful so hot, though? Well, I guess Elsie Winters did that. The talent that takes is astounding.
I can't say enough good things about the way this story is told. It is a very slow burn, but in the best way. Celeste is very sick in the beginning of the book. But it takes her absolutely no time at all to realize her husband is a straight up DISH. And as she begins to regain her strength and independence, she sets about a steady routine of attempting to seduce him. It was well worth the wait!
