Set in an alternative Edwardian England, this is a comedy of manners, manor houses, and hedge mazes: including a magic-infused murder mystery and a delightful queer romance.
For fans of Georgette Heyer or Julia Quinn's Bridgerton, who'd like to welcome magic into their lives . . .
Young baronet Robin Blyth thought he was taking up a minor governmental post. However, he's actually been appointed parliamentary liaison to a secret magical society. If it weren’t for this administrative error, he’d never have discovered the incredible magic underlying his world.
Cursed by mysterious attackers and plagued by visions, Robin becomes determined to drag answers from his missing predecessor – but he’ll need the help of Edwin Courcey, his hostile magical-society counterpart. Unwillingly thrown together, Robin and Edwin will discover a plot that threatens every magician in the British Isles.

I can't believe I made it through my second historical this month, and it was another 5 star read! To be fair, this is also paranormal, and just enough steampunk to check my boxes. I would like to make a personal request now for my own guide light!! They sound awesome.
Robin is too smart to be a himbo, but MAN! So close. His manners are perfect, he's beefy and sweet, I love a cinnamon roll jock. And Edwin is the cutest book nerd. He's way too repressed, but he is a gay man in Edwardian England. So like, I kind of get that.
I love the idea of being shunted into a government job out of spite. And that is how Robin ends up as a liaison between the Prime Minister and the magical government. And he's shunted into this job because another man has gone missing from this position. Are they investigating, who knows? Should they be? Without a doubt!
Learning about this magical community with Robin was very cool! The mystery is good, the stakes are high, and the pranks are ludicrous! I look forward to seeing what kind of hijinks Maud, Robin's little sister, will get up to!!
